Google Finance

March 21st, 2006

My homepage is obviously the omnipresent Google search page, particularily their personalized home page with RSS feeds and what have you. Upon opening my home page today I was surprised to see Google Finance, the most recent addition to a large list of betas.

Google Finance

They’ve ventured into yet another sector with their strategy making things better and faster. Reminds me of our company ’s Mo-Motto: mo better, mo cheaper, mo faster (I never liked it). One extremely interesting feature is the ability to adjust your date windows with their Flash-based stock chart. Additionally they provide links to appropriate news, companies, facts, and even blog posts for non-profit companies and privately held firms. Hopefully you’ll find this usefull. I wonder how a possible Google Wallet will play into this whole finance section…maybe not at all.

Slimy, Green, Healthy?

March 10th, 2006

Texture is everything to me. I love things that you can bite into without chewing, stuff like Starbursts and chocolates. Gummy worms and gummy bears take a back seat to chewy cookies and chewy chewies. Wookies not included. Gummy bears are fine but damn, feels like chewing fleshy tendon.

It’s lunch time and I don’t feel like going out. I get my ass up and run downstairs (to our not so amazing cafeteria) and pick up some grilled chicken, okra and rice. Okra? Haven’t had that in a while. Slimy. Like I said, texture is everything to me and this falls under the “gummy” category. But you know, I’ll eat it if it’s good for me. I should check. Not everything green is good.

Okra: Green and Slimy

But really now, is okra good for me? A quick Google brought me to this awesome website: NutritionData. Simple searching provided me with a simple fact that okra is a healthy veggie (I think I like hearing myself say OWE-KRUH). Moral of the story: I learned how to put pictures in my blog. NutritionData is pretty awesome, I highly recommend it.
